Former Clinton Vice President Al Gore’s movie An Inconvenient Truth was released today in his clarion Chicken Little like warning of planetary doom due to global warming.  The hype is that it is the scariest movie you will see, and I’m that may be true if you believe the selected and out of context evidence you will see in the film.  Head on over to TCS Daily to read a selection of real truths that poke huge gaping holes in Gore’s panicked attempt to demagogue this issue… again.  You really should read it all and be prepared to educate your gullible friends and coworkers who come back from the movie in a panic, because the MSM will do everything they can to promote the goals of this movie.  Here are my two favorite inconvenient facts from the TCS Daily article linked above by Dr. Robert C. Balling Jr., who is a professor specializing in climate change and the greenhouse effect in the climatology program at Arizona State University (emphasis added):

(3) Many of Gore’s conclusions are based on the "Hockey Stick" that shows near constant global temperatures for 1,000 years with a sharp increase in temperature from 1900 onward. The record Gore chooses in the film completely wipes out the Medieval Warm Period of 1,000 years ago and Little Ice Age that started 500 years ago and ended just over 100 years ago. There is evidence from throughout the world that these climate episodes existed, but on Gore’s Hockey Stick, they become nothing more than insignificant fluctuations (Gore even jokes at one point about the Medieval Warm period).

5) Gore claims that sea level rise could drown the Pacific islands, Florida, major cities the world over, and the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. No mention is made of the fact that sea level has been rising at a rate of 1.8 mm per year for the past 8,000 years; the IPCC notes that "No significant acceleration in the rate of sea level rise during the 20th century has been detected."

Gore claims to have science on his side but he and the other alarmists just ignore any serious science that does not agree with their predetermined conclusion that humanity is a the problem and only they know what must be done to save the planet and us.  Their methods and claims are tools of a ruthless and dishonest politics, not science.

Arguments that completely ignore thousands of years worth of evidence compiled from multiple spheres of inquiry by individuals all over the world, and that can only be taken seriously if the viewer is ignorant of these inconvenient facts, are not science.  Nor are they rational or intelligent.  What they are is another emotional and guilt ridden self hating attempt to claim responsibility for yet another series of "evil" processes started by Western capitalism and continuing "imperialism".

That’s why the so-called "environmental lobby" could care less about what the rapidly industrializing former third world powerhouses like India and China are doing, and in fact totally ignore the fact that these nations will completely nullify any "progress" demanded of the West by the Kyoto crowd.  They are Marxists crazed by navel-gazing self-hate for the perceived misdeeds of their own capitalist economies.  The environment is incidental to them, along with the truth as always for the international Left/Marxists, all that really matters to them is bringing down the capitalist economies that they see as oppressing the rest of the world.

When they can address the science and account for the inconvenient facts we should then have a totally different conversation about what to do about it if true.  But even if that ever happens no plan that results in zero net positive result at huge cost, as does the Kyoto Treaty, will be acceptable then either.  That’s the final "tell" that these extremists can not be trusted, that their proposed plan to avert the impending disaster will do no such thing, and not even close.  That’s because they don’t really mean it to, they’re not that stupid.
