You wouldn’t know it because the MSM here are not talking about it, but there have been recent calls in Brussels for Brussels Journal Editor Paul Belien to be prosecuted for daring to report and discuss events and stories in Belgium from a center-right point of view.  The leftist elite sees this as promoting "hate speech" in a manner similar to the "speech codes" put into place on many American Colleges that are used to prevent any speech that the hard left does not approve.  To the Left/Liberal Elite anything they don’t agree with is "hateful".  On Monday of last week Mr. Belien wrote that:

Following last Thursday’s Antwerp massacre the Belgian authorities have announced zero tolerance for racism. Belgian journalists, lawyers and politicians (including Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt), say that I am responsible for creating the atmosphere of hatred that led to the massacre. Some people even demand that I be prosecuted.

Belgian television and the Brussels papers say that the Antwerp shoot-out is the result of my writings.

The Brussels Journal would not be the first web site to be closed down in Europe for daring to raise the difficult issues of uncontrolled Immigration and the manipulation of European laws by organized extremist Muslim groups.  Back during the height of the Mohammed Cartoon Controversy a few sites got shut down for daring to show the cartoons.  The International Leftist’s preferred tactic these days is the old ostrich method of handling problems, i.e. to stick your head in a hole in the ground and pretend the problems don’t exist and that by doing so the problems will just go away.  Paul Belien has had the gaul to pull his head out of the hole Europe is hiding its collective head in and try to tell the others that they need to see what’s going on up there in the real world.

They really don’t like it and the Left’s preferred method for dealing with such troubling and scary people — scary because they make them briefly contemplate all those problems they are studiously ignoring– is to use their overwhelming power of the government to shut them up so they can feel safe again.  Because then while the problems will just be getting worse they won’t know that in blissful ignorance until hopefully it is someone elses problem, and they just really don’t want to be bothered or have to change any of their habits or attitudes.  To the purposely blind Leftist leadership anyone who speaks of such things is the real troublemaker, like tenants of public housing who fear saying anything about the drug gangs that make their life miserable because it will just be worse for them by daring to talk about it or try to oppose them.  They are too afraid to even think about dealing with the dangerous people so they settle for oppressing those they know can be safely silenced.

All of us, and Europe especially, need men like Paul Belien and the other writers at the Brussels Journal to report and speak honestly about the real problems facing Western Civilization.  We have a lot of problems both foreign and domestic all mixed up together and if we are to solve them we need to be able to honestly talk about them to even have a chance.
