Nothing really new to report on the Iranian project to develop nuclear weapons while flaunting the fact to the U.N. and the so called "World Community".  Their plan is continuing to work since they’ve allied with Russia and China to protect their interests by preventing any serious action in the U.N. Security Council.  The U.S. has apparently about had it with being expected to play the part of the bully by just attack them anyway as the rest of the world wants us to whilst also wishing to be able to attack the U.S. for doing so afterwords.  So we continue to emphasize that we wish to settle the matter with diplomacy as if that has any real meaning.

It looks more and more like the only worthwhile thing really being accomplished by the sordid mess is that misplaced faith in the U.N. is eroding with each passing week.  The endless reports of the complete inability of the "World Community" to actually do anything to stop the fanatic leaders of Iran from building nuclear weapons, while they openly and blithely talk about wiping Israel off the map "in a single storm", may finally make enough people realize that the U.N. is morally bankrupt and totally impotent.  The misplaced faith in the U.N. to deal with anything of substance is fading.  The question is if the public will realize that the U.N. is actually an obstruction to protecting themselves, or anybody for that matter, before the Iranians build and test their first nuclear weapon.

Right now I’d have to say my bet is on the Iranians.  I hope serious people in our government are preparing a credible policy of deterrence to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from using the nuclear weapons it has or shortly will have.
