The nation has been awash with outrage for weeks about the Taliban’s front man being admitted to Yale of all places. Now there is a 9/11 survivor trying to ask the Yale administration for an explanation , any explanation for their behavior. That is an excellent question that deserves to be answered, though I’m not holding my breathe. I have another question though.
How did Taliban Man get a Visa to travel to and live in our nation so he could attend Yale at all? Who approved his entry into our nation? Why? Why isn’t he rounded up right now and deported as an enemy of our nation? The Taliban continues to be an enemy with combatants fighting with and killing our valiant soldiers in Afghanistan right now, this is a war still being fought. For that matter, why isn’t he taken into custody and sent go Guantanamo Bay to be interrogated and held with the others?
Whoever made the decision to admit Taliban Man is relevant only in terms of finding out how to stop it from happening again and making sure that it was just some sort of honest mistake or oversight. That won’t make any difference about the fact that he is attending classes at one of our nation’s most prestigious universities right now.
President Bush is the Chief Executive and as such it is within his authority to do something about this. He or someone highly placed in his Administration should. This is turning the War on Terror into a running joke, and we must win it. Its hard to sustain support for a joke.
