Information is emerging that the organized riots staged around the manufactured Mohammed Cartoon Controversy spread so effectively because it fit neatly into a longer term plan of the Muslim Brotherhood.  ‘The Project’ describes their decades long strategy to take over the West, and apparently a copy of this document was captured in a raid and kept quiet until now.  Once again the Weekly Standard does yeoman effort in publishing courageous and well timed investigative reports.  Here’s a quote from the excellent article by Olivier Guitta in a preview of information in a book to be published later this year:

"The Project" is a roadmap for achieving the installation of Islamic regimes in the West via propaganda, preaching, and, if necessary, war. It’s the same idea expressed by Sheikh Qaradawi in 1995 when he said, "We will conquer Europe, we will conquer America, not by the sword but by our Dawa [proselytizing]."

Thus, "The Project" calls for "putting in place a watchdog system for monitoring the [Western] media to warn all Muslims of the dangers and international plots fomented against them." Another long-term effort is to "put in place [among Muslims in the West] a parallel society where the group is above the individual, godly authority above human liberty, and the holy scripture above the laws."

A European secret service agent interviewed by Besson explains that "the project is going to be a real danger in ten years: We’ll see the emergence of a parallel system, the creation of ‘Muslim Parliaments.’ Then the slow destruction of our institutions will begin."

One point emphasized in "The Project" is that Muslims must constantly work to support Islamic Dawa and all the groups around the globe engaged in jihad. Also vital is to "keep the Ummah [the Muslim community] in a jihad frame of mind" and–no surprise here–"to breed a feeling of resentment towards the Jews and refuse any form of coexistence with them." (On February 2, At-Tajdid, a Moroccan Islamist daily close to the Brotherhood, explained to its readers that the Danish cartoons were "a Zionist provocation aimed at reviving the conflict between the West and the Muslim nation.")

This is the War we are fighting.  Long term it is one of public relations and ideas, of will and deception.  War is politics by other means, and in this case an integral part of a longterm political and religious strategy for conquest aimed at our weakest parts.  The threat is no less severe than that posed by Hitler or Stalin or Tojo, but it is much slower in its realization.

Our central problem is that as a people we are mostly blind to it, as this threat is in a form we do not recognize and are not prepared to prevent.  Our shortened MTV era attention spans make us expect everything to happen fast.  We do not have the patience to track long term trends and take them seriously.  This failure of the public to think long term at all is a general fault leading to growing crisis’ throughout our civilization.

The old saying goes that the Generals always fight the last war, and so it is here.  We have moved into a new era of conflict that our decisionmakers and the public at large do not yet comprehend, and in some cases willfully choose NOT to comprehend because it would involve changing perceptions of the world and humanity held dear.  We look for a nation state to blame, an overt act of war or invasion, while our enemies are not bound by borders but by creed while they coordinate military and information campaigns to acheive their desired results.

Looking at the recent capitulation of almost every leader in the West and the Media during this ‘Cartoon Crisis’, betraying our friends in Denmark, if one is honest one must admit they are winning.  But its early and they aren’t near victory yet.  There is still time to educate our neighbors, get our Media to clue in, and pick some leaders prepared to face the challenges to come.
